What I'm getting at is the reason that God provides for giving everyone a different language at Babel. I believe He is quoted in Genesis as saying that He will sow confusion that human beings will not ever complete the tower, ascend to heaven, and challenge God's pre-eminence. Today most Christians, atheists, Jews & Muslims in R&S make very little reference to the Tower of Babel story; we all fight about other things in here. But politically and economically, aren't we a little like the people in the Tower of Babel story? We face a world that's in a severe economic recession, and in the US the unemployment rate is at 9.5 percent and rising. Millions of people in the US are losing their houses; many millions more are still without affordable health insurance. Meanwhile the big Wall Street banks have accepted enormous financial bailouts from the government, and yet they're still not making easy credit available to individual consumers and small business owners who need it. It's also unclear, so far, that the US government will be able to overcome the resistance of the big oil & coal companies and enact a good program to curb global climate change. So all Americans - religious believers and atheists alike -- face some really important political challenges and political and economic problems, and the futures of our children and grandschildren depend on meeting and solving those problems well. But we are scattered in confusion -- so just because of speaking many different languages, but because we belong to dozens of different religious denominations -- or in some cases to no religious faith at all. The unemployment rates keep rising, and the banks keep getting money from the government without providing credit to people who need it -- and we're permanently divided & impotent because of our disagreements over religion. Is this a new Babel, perhaps? Are there "principalities and powers" who want to keep us perpetually divided over religion and anti-religion, so that we never challenge the power of the economic & political elites? Sorry; there are some confusing typos in this question; my bad. What I meant to say is that we are divided -- NOT just because we speak different languages, but also because we adhere to possibly dozens of different religious traditions, and some anti-religious traditions as well. As the people at Babel failed to complete their tower because of a confusion of languages, so, also, we in the USA today (and around the world) are failing to unite to solve common problems, at least partly because we embrace a confusion of different religious faiths. Are we getting fooled by a powerful economic and political elite into division and powerlessness, based on religion -- just as the people at Babel were fooled by God into a similar kind of powerlessness, this one arising from different languages? K Bell - Thank you for seeing my point. I think you're not quite right to say that God saw nothing wrong with the tower building, though. This is from part of the Genesis story: 6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do; and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. 8 It looks to me as if God in this story is worried that "they have all one language ... and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. " He then, on that basis, decides to confound their languages, etc. I mean no disrespect to God, if he really exists. How could I? But isn't this the classic behavior of the power elite - any power elite? To divide the powerless according to language, religion, race, nationality etc, and thus keep them powerless?

My husband before I met him had a truck get stolen and the isurance company sent him a check to pay it off, he was in alot of legal trouble and not mentally well and never took care of the bill. The check was never used and he ended going to jail so it was never taken care of. He now has this on his credit that he owes $11,000 to ford motors, this has been 6 or 7 years ago, can this be fixed? I'm not sure where he had insurance at or even if the place is still there that would have his record of having insurance, he is trying to get his life strait with me and this is a big thing on his credit we will never be able to get a loan with that on there All I know is that it has been sent to colection agencys and the only reason we know it is on there is because we got a credit report from freecreditreport.com

I do not know how long this will last but I can not look for a job or go to work if I am unable to drive (I'm disabled to begin with and have mobility issues). I need advice. What should I do? Resolved Question: My boyfriend was injured at our neighbors home and they dont have homeowners insurance what can we do?
My boyfriend was visiting the neighbor while he was working on his riding mower. I guess the carburator was messed up because it had pumped the block full of gas. The neighbor thought that it would be a good idea to take the spark plug out of the block and drain the gas but not enough of it was coming out so he had a battery charger hooked up and before my boyfriend knew what he was going to do , he hit the starter with the cables to turn the motor over in hopes of pumping the gas out and when he did it sparked and shot flaming gas all over my boyfriends legs and hands. He was sitting in a camping chair off to the side and didn't realize what the guy was going to do until it was too late. He had to be life flighted and was in the hospital for 4 days with 2nd degree burns and has to go back regularly. The neighbor has no homeowners insurance and draws a disability check. Are we left with no options? We don't want to take the guys house or anything.

Voting Question: A 2.4 hp (rated ~ real world it's a 1.6 hp engined) generator a 1/3 hp 120 volt motor Bike & trailer; legal?
I've a need to keep my expenses to a bare min. Thus can afford no insurance, nor license fees. But I need motor transport. I'm interested in building a "powered bike". But the monies available do not allow for batteries. It's sad how we treat wounded policemen / Marines from time to time in this country. Any fool can allege child support is need to raise a motorcycle "club" member's child and a smuggler's child and refuse a law enforcer access to 'our courts" on behalf of what essentially are well off hooligans. Apparently; for decades. And no end in sight. I can put said generator on a trailer I've got. With the roll cage on the generator this should be substancially less dangerous than unprotected Acid Batteries, which might shock a fellow to death, explode or burn one with acid upon impact. I've seizures fro time to time, though the mob scares people into denying this, I feel, given the medical health care professionals seem conent to forget about the 23 bullet wounds suffered whilst wearing your badges as well. So I fear the more obviously legal method of powering a bike really shouldn't do, when there is an availability of multiple roll cages. With the engine throttled down with a throttle stop, shouldn't this comply with regulations keeping the power on engine powered bikes below 1/3 hp? It should be easy enough to measure 1/3 of 750 Watts. It is a generator after all. Or would I need to convert this to a more polluting 2 stroke? Perhaps I did not make it clear enough, I've no funds for batteries and I already have a few regulated AC motors that are quite compatible with the generator's AC power / and though I didn't note this before it has DC outlets in anycase. And I don't get the reasoning that gell cells are the least bit safe. I got into a wreck today, a lady ran a red light going 40 mph and t-boned me while I was turning. Caused me lots of pain. I have a 2006 mazda tribute, both passenger doors and the windows will need to be replaced. I have state farm and so does the other lady. Do you think I will get a rental car? Also, how long does it take before getting a check from the insurance? Another thing, since the windows were tinted does the ladies insurance have to pay for my new windows to be tinted or will I have to pay for that out of my own money? What about pain and suffering???

I've a need to keep my expenses to a bare min. Thus can afford no insurance, nor license fees. But I need motor transport. I'm interested in building a "powered bike". But the monies available do not allow for batteries. It's sad how we treat wounded policemen / Marines from time to time in this country. Any fool can allege child support is need to raise a motorcycle "club" member's child and a smuggler's child and refuse a law enforcer access to 'our courts" on behalf of what essentially are well off hooligans. Apparently; for decades. And no end in sight. I can put said generator on a trailer I've got. With the roll cage on the generator this should be substancially less dangerous than unprotected Acid Batteries, which might shock a fellow to death, explode or burn one with acid upon impact. I've seizures fro time to time, though the mob scares people into denying this, I feel, given the medical health care professionals seem conent to forget about the 23 bullet wounds suffered whilst wearing your badges as well. So I fear the more obviously legal method of powering a bike really shouldn't do, when there is an availability of multiple roll cages. With the engine throttled down with a throttle stop, shouldn't this comply with regulations keeping the power on engine powered bikes below 1/3 hp? It should be easy enough to measure 1/3 of 750 Watts. It is a generator after all. Or would I need to convert this to a more polluting 2 stroke? Perhaps I did not make it clear enough, I've no funds for batteries and I already have a few regulated AC motors that are quite compatible with the generator's AC power / and though I didn't note this before it has DC outlets in anycase. The matter was placed in the hands of their respective insurers, and the matter resolved. Today my sister received a court action from a litigation claims company, working from the same address as the guys insurers. The damage to the guys car was assessed, and his insurance company accepted money from my sisters. This new claim is for £1000.000s! My sisters insurance won't help as it's a private claim. There was a programme recently about this type of scam, what can she do?

I'm looking at getting a job there and i applied and got an interview for this Saturday. They want me to bring in a copy of my Motor Vehicle Report to the interview... I'm worried I won't get the job because I don't have an acceptable driving record. On my record starting in 2006 i have.... 1 speeding ticket in 2006 1 failure to follow sign or signal in 2006 1 at fault accident in 2007 - this wasnt actually me - I let someone drive my car and they got into an accident but it shows up under me anyway because my insurance had to pay out like 60k and finally 2 speeding tickets that i recieved in may of this year Does anyone know if i will still be accepted? I have some family function 400 miles away I was supposed to go to and it would be a waste to go to this interview and not be able to be hired because of my motor vehicle report... thus I would rather go to the family function.

Hi, i have had a car with my insurance company for 7 months. I just got a new car on Thursday morning and asked them to change over my insurance. They calculated the new premium and i was advised that the payments were going up by £5 per month. The girl explained to me that there was a problem with her computer system but that everything is fine and i would receive my new insurance documents. The next day fri, i got a stop check from the police who did all the normal checks. They advised me that my car was not insured!! They took me into the back of the car and explained to me that i should be getting charged for driving without a licence and i should also have my motor taken off of me. However they said they were being a little more lenient with me. They gave me a small ticket (not a fine) requesting that i provide my insurance documents within 7 days and there will be no further action? What am i going to do. Can the insurance company admit to their mistake. Its not as though its a brand new policy, just a change of car. Surely they can backdate this to 2 days ago cos i have not made a claim. The girl who sold me the car still has the V5 document as she sent it to the dvla to get the car changed to her married name. She has advised me that she the details to me as soon as she gets them. So legally she is still the owner. If the insurance company dont bail me out then could i say i was using her car with her permission? The V5 is still on her name. I dont even have the new keeper supplement. My previous policy is still in place and it states the following The policyholder may also drive (with the owner's consent) any motor car not belonging too him (her) and not hired to him (her) under a hire purchase agreement.

I'm a sinlge mom. My child's father is an abusive drug addict however that did not stop the attorney general from giving him visitations. He previously drained and overdrew my checking and savings accounts. He also burned up the motor in my car. I'm living at my mother's now but they can't afford us living here- and my governement help(baby's insurance and food stamps) is soon to be discontinued because i live here and they have an income even though it's not used to support my child and I. and the dad does not pay child support. I need a place to live. The womens shelters won't take me because i have to be able to give the child to her father if he miraculously decides to visit her one random weekend. The homeless shelters won't take me because i'm not yet homeless and if i do become homeless I'm afraid they'll give my daughter to her dad because his mom pays his rent so they have a place to live. i'm lost and don't know what to do at this point. If you read all of this I pray you may have an answer for me, at least a suggestion? i'm desperate- thank you. I'm in houston tx, I can't get a job due to no day care and no car- the womens shelters won't take someone who is obligated to comply with vistation orders already set forth. Does anyone know if I were to go to a homeless shelter would the authority then think it would be better for her dad to have her. they don't take me seriously that he's a bad guy because I left before i ever filed a report. that's why he has visitation rights, the won't drug test him either.

My 1995 Pontiac Firebird V8 Formula has 79,257 miles. I am the second owner and I bought the car when it had about 76,000 miles for $3500. The previous owner took very good care of the car and he was also a mechanic. He used nothing, but premium gasoline and I do as well for the most part. I pay a ridiculous amount for car insurance and gasoline. The car recently got a new starter, alternator, tension belt, drive belt, ignition switch, and 2 new car window motors. Also, when I bought the car I got 2 new front tires which are still almost new. The two rear tires need changing, but I don't know if I should change them to impress potential buyers. The car is in almost excellent condition and it looks impressive for never having a paint job. The rear seat in the car has a stain the size of a hand that came with the car when I bought it. Does anyone know how much I should sell my car for?

Any married couples, please help me here. I just got into a verbal fight with a good friend of mine. I’m 21 and he’s 22. I’m single. He’s married. His wife is basically a complete B…..I….T….C….H. He does a lot of stuff for her, and she does nothing but use him. He feels that he needs to talk to me about this because I help calm him when some thing transpires between him and his wife. And he also likes when I give him suggestions. In a nut shell, here is how his wife acts. He asked his wife to take their 2 year old baby to the doctor because of a really bad cough he has. She said she can’t because she had a headache and she commented that “he will get it over it with some cough syrup”. I told my friend, his name is Aaron, I told him then you should take your son to the doctor to be checked out. He had no gas in his car, but he could have used his wife’s jeep (which he BOUGHT for her). The wife told him this “if you take my jeep, I will call the cops and report it stolen”. His wife is very immature. Aaron pays for her car insurance. Tomorrow he is going to call the insurance company and take her off his insurance plan and now she will not be able to drive her jeep because she will have no insurance. I am pressing him very hard to do this. Because I have a feeling that he won’t stick to his guns. I’m so pissed that his wife would not let him use the jeep to take the baby to the doctor. So, I told Aaron, the next time she uses the jeep, call the police and make a report that she’s operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and then she can get ticketed for it. And then just in general she is a complete B….I…T..C...H. She doesn’t work a job, she only goes to college. She doesn’t do much housework. She doesn’t clean up after dinner. Aaron basically does it all. He’s an EMT and a volunteer firefighter. He can’t risk taking her jeep because if she calls and reports it, he could get arrested and he cannot risk a criminal record because of his position. Actually, he’s considering a career as a police officer like me. His wife claims she cannot do the housework or clean because of her bad back….but yet she has the strength to pick up and hold the baby and take him out with her and put him in the car seat, etc., etc. Her bad back is just an excuse. He wants to get a divorce but he cannot right now. Also…..his wife’s parents do drugs. He has given her family so much money and they never paid him back. I told him….he should go to the police and file a report that her parents do drugs. And then a judge can sign a warrant. I told him the whole point of this is to make her side of the family miserable, since that is what they are doing to him. And later on in time when he files for separation, I don’t think the judge will allow her parents to be associated with their baby since they are around drugs. Do you have any suggestions I can give him? his wife makes him so miserable. See… I am the kind of guy who is always on a short fuse……… I couldn’t take this crap that she’s giving him. I would be furious if I was him. My friend is more hurt than anything. Anyways……while I was talking to Aaron earlier, I told him “something tells me that you are not going to take her off your insurance”………….and then I kept going on and saying “you probably wont’ do anything I tell u anyways…you are probably just gonna let it go”……..then he told me “you don’t think I’m gonna do anything?”…. I said “yes”…….and then he hung up. He claims I got no faith in him. What do I do? What can I do to help me? what can I suggest to him? Hello, I'm currently on bail and am being pressed with 3 motoring offence charges and I'm just wondering if somebody could give me a rough idea what I'm to expect when I go to court in a couple of weeks, and maybe even tell me the type of punishment I'm looking at. I'm a 15 year old UK resident. The charges I am facing are; TWOC - Taken without owners consent. Not having a license to drive the 125cc vehicle. (Scooter/ped) Driving without insurance. I was caught driving on a back road with a passenger on the back who had no helmet, the scooter has no MOT, Tax and I have no license. Its currently in a compound. So if anybody can give me any information on what I'm to expect or punishments I'm to expect, I'd be very grateful, because I'm so scared. It was my mums scooter but I told the police she didn't know I had it. It had just been sitting there on the driveway...

It's more involved than just a judgment, but I have to start somewhere. My boyfriend's daughter was a minor child back in1997. Come to find out LAST YEAR, she was involved in an accident in the State of Washington. According to the State of Washington, if you are the parent of a minor and there is a judgment, it falls on the parent; he had left the state by that time, so he was never aware of the judgment, and did not become aware of it till last year. At that time, his driver's license was up for renewal (State of California), and finds out that his license was revoked in the State of Washington. California, not "online" at the time, but "online" now, is going to honor that, so his license is now revoked. He calls the Washington Motor Vehicle Department, who tell him they can't do anything to help him. The woman says (NOT in any professional legal capacity) that maybe bankruptcy might help him. He's driving without a license, and that worries me (no insurance coverage if an accident). I don't know if bankruptcy will actually do anything for him, and I don't know where to start (CA or WA). Thanks for the Chapter 7; wasn't sure, but thought that was what would be appropriate. THE remaining issue would be if, in fact, bankruptcy would discharge the judgment. It is for $30,000. I have recently received a civil summons from court stating im being sued for a large amount of money. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident were my passanger was hurt. She is in turn sueying me not the insurance company. She was not wearing a seat belt. I was and didnt sustain any injuries. In the claim she is saying she suffered major damages, lost her job (which she wasnt working at the time anyway) and will need futher medical treatment. I know for a fact she never went to any therapy or even wore a neck brace for any injuries. I also know for a fact she didnt have a job at the time of the accident. Her sister works for the same lawyer who is suing me. My question is doesnt she have to prove the injuries and loss of job/wages to the court in order to have a cause and set damages. Its over 15,000 dollars including legal fees. I am going to go see my own personal lawyer to fight against this on monday but wanted to know if theres anything i can do. If there are falsified documents in this case and it comes to light what happens to the case after?

Some tricycles are large and not childrens toys. Last century bicycles were licensed where I grew up. A woman here in this town was hit by a high speed cycle rider without insurance a year ago and she is still having surgeries and medical bills. Cyclists often ignore or just don't know the rules of the road. The State needs safe roads for all users. The fee revenue would be of use to the State as well. Riders under the age of 18 would be exempt.

However, the car is still registered under her name, has her license plate/tag on it, and is insured to her name. Is it legal for her to keep it registered to her name / continue to pay her car insurance policy, even though she does not own the vehicle anymore? (doesn't have the title anymore). The car insurance company doesn't seem to be aware of the title change, and it's just convenient for me to keep paying her low car insurance premiums (because of her good driving record) while still having the piece of mind that I own my car (am in possession of its title). My boyfriend was visiting the neighbor while he was working on his riding mower. I guess the carburator was messed up because it had pumped the block full of gas. The neighbor thought that it would be a good idea to take the spark plug out of the block and drain the gas but not enough of it was coming out so he had a battery charger hooked up and before my boyfriend knew what he was going to do , he hit the starter with the cables to turn the motor over in hopes of pumping the gas out and when he did it sparked and shot flaming gas all over my boyfriends legs and hands. He was sitting in a camping chair off to the side and didn't realize what the guy was going to do until it was too late. He had to be life flighted and was in the hospital for 4 days with 2nd degree burns and has to go back regularly. The neighbor has no homeowners insurance and draws a disability check. Are we left with no options? We don't want to take the guys house or anything.

i have a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am SE Coupe and it has a lot of problems here are just a few: transmission in going out heater core is leaking power window motors are going out rust the car (body, motor, trans, etc.) has about 133,000 miles on it After I get my license I'm going to be going on country roads that are gravel roads and I was thinking of getting a truck problem is the cost and insurance, but i have a few months until i get my license so should i wait to sell my car or sell now and Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com) said my car is worth about $1,090 for Private Party Value so I was planning on selling it for like $1000 or so but I still won't have enough for a truck I like and that's the only car my mom has me listed on So i was wondering should I sell now and not be able to drive a car that I'm insured on or should i wait until after i get my license because I know my car won't last much longer (reason I know a friend of mine is a mechanic and he said i would be lucky if it was still running by the end of this year) so your opinions please i could get like 400 if i sold it as a parts car and i could get 1000 cuz of the idiotic people in our country like most on this site

My sister had a car run into the back of hers last year. There was only superficial damage to the other guys car, none to my sisters. He contested her claim that he'd been driving unsafely. The matter was placed in the hands of their respective insurers, and the matter resolved. Today my sister received a court action from a litigation claims company, working from the same address as the guys insurers. The damage to the guys car was assessed, and his insurance company accepted money from my sisters. This new claim is for £1000.000s! My sisters insurance won't help as it's a private claim. There was a programme recently about this type of scam, what can she do?

I was in a car wreck on Fathers Day, I was at major 4 way light intersection turning left when a lady from across the way ran a red light and hit me going about 50 mph in a 35, my car was hit on the passenger side and spun 360 degrees. I dont remember alot of it cause I was knocked out. I was rushed to the hospital. The lady is a 67 year old and claims fault, I was told I should still look into hiring a lawyer. Why would I need a lawyer if she admits she did wrong??? Also, the lady and I both have state farm for insurance and state farm told me how the process will work and after all the dr visits the claims dept and I will discuss a "pain and suffering" amount. What would be a good amount????

my truck is a 2008 chevy silverado and it was stolen and recovered in a creek the water has been from the front bumper to the top of the dash the motor has water in it and the glove box is full of water even the center console of the seat was full! now the insurance company says they are going to fix it! do i have to accept this?it has 29000 miles and i wont ever be able to trust this truck again! please help!!! i am in nebraska thanks for all who try to help.

The boy was struck while riding his bicycle on Main Street near Gerrish Street on Friday night. Police said the vehicle that struck the boy was making a turn on Gerrish Street from Main Street. The driver of the car did not stop, police said They said a motorcyclist in the area followed the suspect, who fled on foot. Fredi Villalta was arrested on charges of evading with personal injury, operating a motor vehicle without a license and having no insurance. East Haven police said Villalta told officers that he was living in the country as an illegal immigrant. Police said they were working to confirm the status of his residency. Villalta’s bond was set at $100,000 and he is scheduled for arraignment on Monday. EAST HAVEN, Conn. -- An East Haven man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that left a 14-year-old boy injured. The boy was struck while riding his bicycle on Main Street near Gerrish Street on Friday night. Police said the vehicle that struck the boy was making a turn on Gerrish Street from Main Street. The driver of the car did not stop, police said They said a motorcyclist in the area followed the suspect, who fled on foot. Fredi Villalta was arrested on charges of evading with personal injury, operating a motor vehicle without a license and having no insurance. East Haven police said Villalta told officers that he was living in the country as an illegal immigrant. Police said they were working to confirm the status of his residency. Villalta’s bond was set at $100,000 and he is scheduled for arraignment on Monday.
